What you do affects everyone, what everyone else does also affects you. Yoga is a gentle discipline and practice, we want easy minds and souls here, so learn the few gentle rules and practice with mindful respect to all. When you arrive, park your car, we have plenty of space, it's free. Take a moment, reset your mind, and make an effort to leave all distractions behind in your car if you haven't left them at home. Remove your watch, your jewelry, and turn off your cell phone. Leave them in the car (out of sight). Oops, forget your stuff? Don't worry, you can get whatever you need here. We have water, mats, towels, clothing... don't leave!
At the front desk there's a sign-in sheet, sign your name clearly. Take off your shoes and make sure they are out of the way of foot traffic. Let the teacher know if you need a mat, towel (both are required) or water, and if you have special concerns, illness or injuries to deal with. We have dressing rooms with plenty of room for your stuff, and a rest room. We lock the studio during class or someone is in the front.
Enter the practice room quietly through the door in the back hallway with only your mat, towel, and water. Please maintain silence in the practice room, starting by quietly placing your mat out - avoid snapping it out in front of you. Lay your towel on top of your mat. Stagger your mat from your neighbors and be ready to make room as more students arrive. New students should leave the front row and center of the room for more experienced students, watch them to learn! Start to finish, let go of expectations, every class is an entirely unique experience.
During class, we only expect you to listen, do your best, and follow instructions. Our excellent teachers will guide you through the class. When you sign in you make an agreement to stay in the room. You can always take a knee, sit, or lie down if you need to.
After class, gather your mat and towel and quietly leave the room. Borrowed mats should be draped over the wooden chairs, borrowed towels should be left in the baskets in the dressing rooms. Look around and mindfully gather all your things. Ask, on your way out, about any questions you have about your practice or the postures. |
